PROFESSOR JULIE FISHER CONSULTANCY julieafisher@btinternet.com ‘Interactions and Engagement: an analysis of relationships and communication between practitioners and their children Conference Outline This conference keynote from Julie Fisher will examine how wellbeing and relationships are at the heart of effective interactions. It will consider ways in which those who monitor and are responsible for judgements about the quality of interactions might observe and analyse the back and forth exchanges between practitioners and their children. It will explore differences between interactions during adult-led and child-led episodes, suggesting that the role of the practitioner shifts in these scenarios from leader of learning to follower, subsequently altering the nature of the interactions that ensue. In her keynote, Julie will draw on evidence from her own research and consider the contribution of the EYFS educational programmes.
